I agree with you completely that over time it will look more and more outdated, similar to what FoxPro DOS looks like todayCertainly the standard VFP gui elements are looking dated- people often assume it is VB, fwiw.
But I've attached an image of a VFP app using vista-ized controls. You can make it even more contemporary using some of the stuff at vfpx, e.g.
