I agree with you completely that over time it will look more and more outdated, similar to what FoxPro DOS looks like today

Certainly the standard VFP gui elements are looking dated- people often assume it is VB, fwiw.

But I've attached an image of a VFP app using vista-ized controls. You can make it even more contemporary using some of the stuff at vfpx, e.g. http://vfpx.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?title=ThemedControls
