In DC this is considered a resounding success.

You might be interested in an e-mail that I sent to our representative after I tried to participate in a tele-town hall meeting. Her name is Betty Sutton and she was very involved in this program:

Hello Ms. Sutton

I must say that I was singularly unimpressed with your town hall meeting last night. During the first 20 minutes of listening to your monologue, I was disconnected twice and finally was so fed up that I did not bother calling in again. It seems to me that this sort of incompetence is running rampant in our government today as illustrated by the sending of stimulus checks to convicts and dead people.

The question that I wanted to ask you is this:

Medicare is broke.
Medicaid is broke.
Social Security is broke.
Car dealers are going broke because the cash for clunkers program is not giving the rebate money to the dealerships in a timely fashion and some of them are out almost a million dollars because of this program.

Now in the light of this evidence, what makes you think that the government is capable of managing a “public option” health insurance program? I do not want to hear the same old tired party line. I want some solid evidence that the government can succeed at this when it has failed so abysmally at almost everything else that it has attempted.

I also want to know if you have even read the bill that you are supporting. I refer you to my husband’s blog, which is a copy of an e-mail that he sent to you and to which he has received no response:
