>>>Just curious, assuming the incident got entered first into a CAD system (before it was cleared and a report entered into RMS), was it a self-init event generated by one of the officers or was it entered into the system (for dispatch) by a dispatcher? I ask because of the video. Was the event generated based on the video by someone watching the cameras and then units dispatched, the officers respond and then file their reports via the PDA into the RMS system? Did the officers clear the event (in CAD) remotely using the PDA as well or via a system in their mobile unit? I'm curious how the flow works when the incident is entered due to live-cameras.

>>The officer in the RTCC contacted dispatch and asked for a car at that location, so it was handled as any other dispatched event. Even if an officer initiates a stop, he gets "special" at the location with whatever he/she is working and the dispatcher enters it into the CAD system. I have been successful in getting our local paper to do a story on repeat offenders, and they actually have taken it to another level. They will be doing a series of stories over the course of an entire week (the week of Sept 20th). I wrote a little vfp app that pulls all the dispatched calls from our Oracle database and emailed certain call types to a group of reporters for an entire week. They rode with a lieutenant to scenes of homicides, rapes, burglaries, shots fired, man down, etc and they tell me my emails worked well for them. I can't wait to see the stories. I even had a videographer ride around in my LPR car with me. I think it blew her mind to see and hear everything that gets exposed. I'll post links to the paper when the stories start. I think y'all will enjoy it too. We are doing some pretty neat stuff in Memphis.

>Now I'm curious ... is all your stuff (CAD, RMS, Mobile) all "home-grown"?

You would be a GREAT addition if that's what you are thinking. Are you considering branching into a different field?
