In the words of the late great Windton Churchill: “If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain.” Churchill didn't say that. After all, he was a gung-ho soldier at 20 and a Conservative Member of Parliament at 25. It was Guizot (1787-1874) and he actually said
"Not to be a Republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head."I kid you not. LOL.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
