>>It was on one of my daughter's summer reading lists back in middle school, but she chose another book in its place. At the time, she thought it was a 'boys book.' :o) She had to read 4 books that summer and if I recall correctly, that was the year we read the "A Wrinkle in Time" Series (I read them as well). The next summer she read the Hobbit books - different books rewarded different points but you had to write an essay on every book and speak about it in front of the class. I know which books she read, but I can no longer recall which year they fell into :o) that's old age for ya :o)

>elzevir block, we had long talks about that. A very rewarding book.

Funny thing: she enjoyed a lot of French novels, but had she been forced to read 'The Count of Monte Cristo' first, I'm afraid she would have never picked up a book again she hated it that much!
