I don't know if there is a type "Read" in VFP9 for WindowType property. I believe it's either modal or modeless.

Anyway, try for now to recompile all the files (choose re-build the project and re-compile all) and if ASSERT .F. would not work try placing SET STEP ON in the place you want to debug (but don't forget to remove it later).

Also try not to use Activate or Valid or GotFocus/LostFocus events - because switching between Debug window and the form may cause these events to fire again.
