Why should a president of the U.S. want anyone to be nuked? I would much rather have a leader who considers it the worst of possible outcomes. IMO it was appalling that Bush and (more so) Cheney considered it a reasonable option. If someone hits us, then hit them back hard. But not otherwise. It is no substitute for diplomacy. Maybe that makes me worthless as well.
