>A mail server either supports IMAP or not. An owner of the server should provide info about that. You would need a mail client that understands IMAP and configure it to use IMAP. A Google mail server supports both POP3/SMTP and IMAP.

Thanks for the response Sergey.
I got tired of the extreme slowness of Outlook and started looking for alternatives. As long as I was planning change I looked for other characteristics, including the ability to check mail from more than one place, easily organize mail in several folder levels, do fast searches, and more. I sometimes use Hotmail which you can read from anywhere but falls short in other ways. Then I found Postbox and asked the developer for suggestions and he suggested finding an IMAP server which coupled with Postbox may do what I need.
