It seems the racism dust is fanned everywhere - i.e. we heard the word on NPR repeatedly, now it seems to be the sole subject, and probably serves as a good diversion.

From what I read in the links you provided, the issue is sort of minor, just another hot button. The artillery used to protect the interests of big pharmacy, insurance and AMA (did I forget anyone?) is of the expected caliber. This is not the first attempt to have some sort of guaranteed minimum of a health system in this country, and all of them have failed so far under this barrage fire. Well, we'll see how far this one gets.
