TBH, I can't really think of any good reason to use a COM server - it would mean more work (although it might be possible to use some of your existing code in the server to 'shape' the returned data)

Do you envisage implementing this in a piecemeal fashion (i.e. having the VFP and .NET front ends both working on the same data) or would you only switch to the .NET version when it was completed?
