Bummer! It appears to work only in VFP 3. I was doing maintenance on an older 3.0b app today, so that's where I was experimenting. It looks like what I thought was a hidden feature has turned out to be a bug thats since been corrected. I'm guessing this may have been changed to allow renaming files with no extensions (I don't have 3 at home so I cant test it now). Well, at least in the process I learned a little more about the rename command. In 6.0 you can use wildcards with it.

I kept getting file does not exist in both 5.0 and 6.0. It might be better to stick with the Win API call MoveFile() to rename a directory until we can figure out why this works on one system and not another. BTW, I am using Win95 with a 32 bit file system.
