I think the problems with the Panthers begin at the top. Management is a mess with Richardson's sons resigning unexpectedly.

But...they aren't at the point where the Redskins are with life long fans calling for Dan Snyder to sell the team.

>A lot of talk about what damage Peppers did to the team too. The repercussions and all...

>Surprisingly though, no one is playing up to par this year. I wonder if there is some negative pyche thing going on with the Panthers after the whole Peppers fiasco (who is not playing up to par either).

>Today the talk is all about Cowher...

>The truth is that they were leaking oil very late last season. The Giants man-handled them in the 2nd half of the big December game last year....and then they almost blew a big lead in the season-ender against the Saints....and then Delhomme had the meltdown last year. This year, they just look pitiful on both sides of the ball. Unlike the other 0-3 diviison winners from last year who have at least played competitively, the Panthers look the worst of the 3.

>In 2003, they played with such a tremendous chip on their shoulders - there were 2 games in 2003 I'll never forget...one was against Tampa, early in the year, when they went down to the New Sombrero and literally punched the defending champion Bucs right in the mouth. And then the NFC Title game, when they walked into Philly and BRUTALIZED the Eagle wide receivers - I had never seen such a bone-crushing defense in my life, not even the famous Ravens defense of 2000 or the Steelers defenses in the late 1970's.

>But truthfully, they've never been as aggressive since then....they teased their fans in 2005, but I really think they've been riding the coat-tails of their monster 2003 season, and haven't figured out how to return to that form. And I doubt they will....I like John Fox, and there were rumors that Fox would take a job in NY if/when Tom Coughlin retires from the Giants....but I think it's time for Fox to go and for the GM to start making some tough choices.
