I want to insert a sound file in a PowerPoint presentation, but so far, I have only managed to link it, not embed it. That is to say, PowerPoint plays the external file, and if I rename it (or don't distribute it), no sound will be played.

So far, searching in the help, I have found that apparently, by default, sound files up to 100 KB are embedded, larger files are linked. I also found I can increase this value up to 50 MB; but I changed it to a value larger than my sound file, and it didn't work. Is there anything else I have to consider? I haven't found a specific option to "embed vs. link", and have the impression that only this default should affect the behavior.
