I would suggest that this would be cumbersome to have to go into preference to turn off/on. What if you provided a way to include a list of "trouble" classes or forms in the preferences that would have this feature automatically turned off when that class/form is being edited? I can see where one could have several classes/forms open at once and would switch between them. Having PEME automatically turn off this for the trouble classes/forms only would be a great benefit.
