I tried both SMTP and ESMTP connections w/o attempting AUTH command and got same result -- an error when performing a MAIL FROM, indicating that authentication is required to send mail. Having no authentication mechanism enabled does make it difficult to authenticate through SMTP/ESMTP. I'm wondering if they've got Exchange configured so that I need to connect and authentication with POP, IMAP or some other service first...
