I send emails in my application. I use mapi to do it.

I'd like to know how I can detect if a MAPI provider (not sure if mapi provider is a good term here) has been defined.

How can I check that? If no MAPI provider is defined then I would display a message saying it's not defined and that emails can't be sent.

If it's defined can I see which one is the software provider? Does it really matter because if a mapi provider is defined I should be ready to send email anyway right?
