If a miracle happens, I'll be there, but,...

I've always enjoyed being among FoxPro developers; they're a good lot of people. We have our weird ones (I might be in that group as well), and we have the nerdy ones, and then the cool ones. It's been a good ride. I've also enjoyed listening to some of the new bloods who have come among us at these conferences and user groups, who have the same enthusiasm some of us old birds had back in the 1980's when FoxBase and FoxPro made their debuts.

I specifically remember a young, 25 year old Ken Levy who amazed all of us with his programming skills. We were at the D-Day Fair (dBase, FoxPro, Paradox, etc.) in Woodland Hills, California. I can't remember which year it was, but we were really enthusiastic to see what could be done with FoxPro 2.x back then. Ken had created some communications software for the State of California and several counties. No one could believe the things that Ken was creating could even be done, but he did them and amazed all of us. There were many other stars back then, just like there are now with this new group of young people.

Well, whether I make it there or not, my heart will be there. (I might try to sneak in the back door, so watch out!)

>We're expecting a bit of a decline because of the economic situation. We've spoken to some people who are skipping this year because of finances. But we still expect a good turn-out. We're, of course, doing everything we can to keep our costs under control, so that we can continue to offer a high quality program at a reasonable price.
