I've tried that and used XCOPY to copy the lnk file the remote computer but the short-cut changes somehow. It's very strange, as I can open the short-cut file and everything looks normal. The "Target" & "Start In" data looks normal which is pointing to and EXE and folders on the C: drive. However, when I click on the icon it takes about four times longer for the application to start. I can VNC into the remot computer and create a short-cut manually and it works fine, meaning that the application starts instantly when clicked. I finally figured out that the "copied" icon was running the EXE on my development computer accross the LAN (which is where I created the icon) instead of running the copy on the local hard drive. Yet, when you look at the info contained in the lnk file, there is no indication that it is not pointing to the local harddrive. I can wipe out the "target" and "Start In" info, save the icon and then re-enter the data (exactly as it was before) and then it finds the local copy of the EXE and launches it instantly. This has been driving me crazy, as I know I have copied lnk files to a remote computer in the past (a couple of years ago) without this problem but I can't seem to figure out why the icon/lnk file is insisting on pointing to the computer where it was created.

After posting my question I continued looking for a solution and have found some info on a program called "shortcut.exe." I downloaded it and it is showing some promise. I have to do some more testing though.
