Maybe, but I don't really think so. It's called a 'conversation'. He mentioned "'crazy fiddlin'", and I added to the conversation by agreeing that I like fiddle music with some names I like. Then he came back with other names that he figured I might like. If someone shows a liking for something, I don't think of it as 'one upmanship' to suggest some names he might or might not know and might find appealing.

But who knows, you might be right.
