Using Sergey's and KG's suggestions I verified that my version of VFP 9 Ole Db driver is slightly different from the one installed on the customer server. My version is 9.0.00.3504 and their version is 9.0.005815. Looks like theirs is a later version. Is the difference significant? Could it be that the later version had a bug that causes VFP memo corruption (error 41)?
