>>Now here is a thought, in the spirit of the online community. I will send my copy to anyone who would like to read it. All I ask is that you read it, autograph it below mine on the frontispiece, and then mail it along to the list. Sooner or later it will reach Kevin Bacon, LOL. But actually I'm serious. Wouldn't you read a book that has been received, handled, and mailed by the likes of so many here? Think of it as a traveling touchstone with strange power. Just sign your name somewhere and pass it along. Nice.

My take on this - before this thread started:

- I had no idea Sara Ford existed
- I had no idea she's written a VS book

Mike's idea is new to me, I find it interesting, it'll probably stick in my head - along with the existence of the book and author. If I need a VS book in future, I'll probably check hers out. Previously, I probably wouldn't have. Effectively, it's building a little "buzz".

There is some evidence from music downloading that downloaders buy more music than they otherwise would have. Who knows the effect of a time-limited "teaser" preview of the book in the hands of honourable coders?

(especially if they know they'll get karate-chopped if they don't follow through with a purchase) < g >
