>I would say there are a LOT more jobs out there. Nobody here is looking for VFP programmers, Its all VB. Regardless of the quality of the language (They all have pluses and minuses), If the customers want to have their project done in VB, Well, they drive the market. It suprises me that Microsoft tells us VFP developers that VFP is not dead/dying or otherwise, but they are not telling our clients/future clients. Telling us that VFP is not dead is like preaching to the choir. If VFP is to stay alive, they need to start marketing it to our customers. I'm tired of trying to defend VFP, Its not my job. My job is to develop software and If VB is the language that the market wants, then I guess I better learn VB.

Yes, it is true that there are alot of VB jobs out there. I work in Los Angeles and there are dozens of requests for VB & SQL Server 6.5 programmers in the classifieds each week. The funny thing is that the same companies post the same ads every week. Then I got to thinking that a large part of the reason for the VB / SQL Server demand may be that very few VBers know know to do data and that VB isn't neccessarily the best tool for database apps.

It is the MIS and IT managers that are misinformed, but it seems that this is already changing in our favor - albeit at the expense of failed VB projects.

Nothing wrong with learning VB if one has the time.
