You know, when I was much younger, and first heard Mac the Knife a few times (not being aware of the Three Penny Opera at the time), I had no idea that Lotte Lenya was a real person. When I learned who she was, I thought it was really neat that she was a real person mentioned in a great song. Then I was disappointed to learn that Lucy Brown was just a character.
