>>I could never understand what people saw in Bruce and his band. OK, so my sister thought he was hot and therefore the music must be good too, right?. They do nothing for me. I'd rather listen to the current U2 stuff than BS. I mean come on, there's a sax player in the band and everyone knows that a true Rock 'n Roll band doesn't have any wind instruments :)

>I don't care about the smiley. You can't attack THE BOSS and hope to get away that easily. You obviously don't know much about music :-D

I don't care who's the boss... but calling oneself so is so utterly un-rnr, that it defies the definition of the art of rebellion. And knowing about music, IMO, is for musicians. For me, the only thing I really need to know is whether the music takes me in any direction (even down is fine sometimes) or just doesn't touch me at all, or drives me to a shortening of the playlist. Everything else that people "know about" music is just curiosity, storytelling etc. The same kind of stories you can hear about any other folks on a project, be it HW, SW, a book, a show, a dam or a park.

>Perhaps it's an age thing. For some people The beatles are the best for others they can't stand them.

They were the best then... nowadays, there are a few good versions, like the "Across the universe" movie and what I hear while they play the rock-band-gear-game in the other room (one of the daughters sings, nice surprise). Meanwhile, their music was just ground and ground in so many awful versions, repackaged so many times... I actually know one guy who didn't make money on republishing Beatles.

>Perhaps listening to old music bring back good memories associated with those songs and/or artists.

>And from what you're saying The Boss is not your cup of tea.

If this is U2... I tried listening to them again a couple of years ago. And one by one I got annoyed with each of their songs and they vanished from my playlist. Too artificial, I guess, too much effect and skill and exactly the sound they need, and too little life in it. Which, as an approach, may work fine in sculpture, painting and a few other static media... but music is kinematic.
