>Is it just me, or is WPF REALLY difficult to learn?? I picked up a book and got a few chapters into it and walked away thinking "WTF????".

I can't claim to have mastered it, but take a look at Beth's videos e.g.

http://windowsclient.net/learn/video.aspx?v=83530

The IDE really makes it pretty easy and if you think about it there is something to be said for controls that are completely defined in XAML chunks that can be snippetized for reuse. ( the Snippet Editor add on or Resharper would let you grab any of that and create substitutions)

Seems it would be faster than doing Winforms in a lot of ways - especially given the primative nature of the property sheet.

As an aside, also notice in this Beth video we are basically talking about a local cursor with a moving record pointer. I just do not get the argument that somehow data handling is less powerful in .NET.

And for those who think Foxpro is state of the art - my God, figure out how you would even try to do WPF level interface stuff in Foxpro ( or for that matter Winform level interface stuff in Foxpro )

I've also been seriously considering dropping $1500 for the training stuff available at pluralsight.com (I think Kevin recommended them) They have 3 hours of free C# and some other stuff as samples. Would probably be very useful to get up and running fast on a lot of new stuff.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
