The problem that arose Naomi was some of the computers had to be revised to use Outlook from OUtlook Express and the program broke down when using MAPI on those computers. The solution we worked on actually solved that problem (after numerous adjustments) but i was left with a residual error on shutdown that i did not mention to you. Sergey's suggestion for alternate code saved me the tedious task of tracing the last problem in a string of problems --- so i'm happy - saved myself some time and the code did not need adjusting.

many thanks for your efforts in all this and sticking with me Naomi - i have kept the program and if down the road i need to resort to it, it's in my bank. Also learned a bit more about how all of this works.
