If you believe that using WPF is all about writing 'flashy' apps then I think you are sadly (and apparently permanently) mistaken. That said I'm happy to accept that you can deliver what your customers require using WinForms - I don't have an issue with that.
But why disparage something which, by your own admission, you have never used on the basis that you don't need it?
