Everyone:

Let me be clear on my feelings on this. I'm not opposed to WPF. I am one of those people who beleives that "Flash is cash" in a software app. But at what expense?

I have been writing code for 25 years, and each dam year MS stands up at "somecon" and tells us all that all the technologies that we have learned and relearned over and over are no longer relevant and now we should learn 'X'. In this case, it's all about the WOW factor.

I remember at VFP DevCon one year MS was pushing XML. We had the Lunch with the "Experts". This woman sat there and told everyone at the table that XML was the new data medium, and that all of our apps should be using XML. I sat and listened to her pontificate on MS's behalf for the better part of an hour. I finally spoke up and asked, "Are you telling me that all of our in-house applications reading & writing SQL should be rewritten to take advantage of XML? Of course she said yes. This was completely upsurd. So now here we are again.

I will of course learn WPF. And the day may come where I stand up & sing it's praises. But the WOW factor isn't enough for me at this point. Someone, please, list out the things that WPF enables me to do that just can't be done now.
