I reported in with about 25 to 35 other people; looks like the district laid off too many regular teachers. They have hired back about half of those teachers already. In the remaining half, the district expected that they would serve as subsititute teachers, but the district was severely shocked and disappointed when only 40 of the remaining teachers stepped up to substitute teach. I believe that the reasons the remaining laid off teachers did not accept subbing is because their pay is basically cut in half, or by more, and they are not guaranteed to teach every day, but mostly Mondays and Fridays.

I am to get a TB test. So, I went to my Dr. today, after being at the district office, who said I should not get the TB test, since I tested positive in the Marine Corps in the mid 1970's; the Dr. sent me off with a referral and order for a chest x-ray. This has consumed most of my day today, as it did yesterday to put together all of the paperwork. This is time away from studying more on .NET.

The pay is $120 per day for regular subs, and $130 per day for those who work with special education children. You do not have anything taken out of your pay for social security, which I wasn't aware of.

So, I will study more of .NET now.

>#1 You missed to note the amount of your unemployment insurance so it's a bit hard to compare. If this was intended try a career on business or politics (^.^)
>#2 On the academic world the start of teaching marks the end of the career
>#3 A temp teaching job will not teach you other skills then teaching
>#4 8 Hours a day means 8 hours teaching? You need ad least another 8 hours to prepare your work. Believe me I know some teachers doing the same stuff on little kids there whole life. Also teaching, is exhausting. Forget about the idea that you might use some spare time to learn complex stuff.
>#5 You are missled by the idea of "socialist money". I guess you have payed into that insurance, at least taxes, so it is your right.
