However, he is having some run time problems that he hope might be corrected with a later version or patch. If there is any such thing, please let me know. Also, how easy is it to convert 3.0 to 5.0?

Wrong, wrong, wrong... The others I mean. Switching from 3 to 5 is a BIG deal. It will require a complete re-testing and debugging cycle to accomplish properly. Things just don't work the same between the two version.
