Something else that I just noticed is that when I run the form, if I click the cursor in a grid cell (i.e. it' becomes the active cell), then the custom color that I want to see for that column becomes visible, so it's as if there's a 'layer' of white that's overlaying the custom backcolor properties that I've set.
