Fox left both in the dust by being able to produce stuff that "worked right the first time". I've always felt the two best product releases (for their time) were FoxPro 1.0 in 1989 and Turbo C 1.0 in 1987. Those products were jewels, absolute jewels that we may never see again.

Never used 1.0, so for me the eye-opener was FoxPro 2.0. I was using dBase III Plus at the time and saw a demo of 2.0 when I went to Spring Comdex in Atlanta. I believe it was brand new at the time, so I think this was in '92? I went beserk ...I *had* to have it ... *immediately*. No more dot prompt for me! I plunked down $700 on the spot. My then-husband was skeptical, but he was the one who got me a gig writing some software for the company that he worked for, so I guess he thought he better not complain about it. Good thing too, because the app I wrote was much better having been done in FoxPro than it would have been had it been done in dBase (and done much quicker to boot). That app (and FoxPro) is what launched the company I started that year.
