Some companies do outgrow MySQL and end up having to choose another database. Oracle just wants to be sure that they are the ones that are picked. Does this mean it will occur on every occasion? Absolutely not.

I would venture to say that most MySQL databases run on Linux. Oracle is a huge supporter of Linux which I am sure they would use to persuade these companies to upgrade.
