Dennis,
As I said I don't know Java to make a comparison. I have some friends whom I think to be very good developers. They were using Java and since a few years they switched to .Net and they are very happy that they did. However, it shouldn't be an indicator, I think they are good developers but how could I really estimate it w/o knowing Java:) I primarily work with Windows based systems and when it is windows I think .Net is the way to go (and it has support on other platforms which I didn't try myself).
