>I don't think the ACC is overrated (shrug). Year in and year out they are the best conference in the country. Once in a while, for a season, the Big East or Big 12 will be as good. IMO, of course, although not just mine.

>You probably heard Carolina already signed the country's top HS player. He will join them next season. The really elite programs -- Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Connecticut -- constantly reload with the cream of the crop and are good bets to go far in the tournament every year.

>
>UNC hired the top high school player for next year...KU signed the top high school prospect (Xavier Henry) for THIS year.

>Mike, the ACC is NOT the best conference. Not even close. Yes, UNC and Duke are stalwarts. But beyond that, they're lucky to have 1 or 2 strong teams....some years Boston College will tease, but then exit the tourney early. Both Virginia teams had good programs in the past, but they haven't done as well recently.

>The best conferences are the Big 12, Big East, and even the SEC. The Pac-10 has slipped, though I hope to see them get back to form this year, because they've produced some great basketball moments. The West Coast conference has some pretty decent competition, though by the end of the year they always seem to appear beat up and exhausted.

Man, KG, those two ACC chicks must have dumped you hard ;-)

I do not proclaim to be a sports expert, just your run of the mill fan. I enter ESPN's tournament challenge every year for fun and finish somewhere in the 5 or 6 figures. (Only one entry, in my lame defense). So if you want to say I am NOT correct, maybe you're right.

The NFL is on downstairs, Vikings vs. Lions, paused on the DVR at halftime. Was keeping an eye on the game, Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin in particular, while reading the Sunday paper. Peterson made a couple of great runs. He sure is exciting to watch. If he wants to be remembered in the top echelon of runners ever, though -- which in my amateur opinion he has every chance to be -- he needs to learn to take care of the football. Just ask Eric Dickerson.
