The doc can do nothing but give you advice - Go home - go to bed - drink plenty of fluids, take an aspirin/tylenol. However you should be watching for the flu moving into your throat and lungs. If that happens the recommendation is to see a doctor as soon as possible or go to Emergency at the hospital.

>OK, so I am not a doctor (and neither are you <g>) ... but I'd love to know what good it does to go to a doctor *after* you get the flu. It's not like the doc can give you a shot and you'll get better because of it (as it would hopefully work for a bacterial infection). I suppose if your symptoms get really, really bad then the hospital might be a better place to be (they can give you IVs so you don't get de-hydrated and they're probably better at keeping your fever down if it gets too high) ... but what else can be done?

>>>Hi Grady,
>>>
>>>My youngest son got a high fever on Friday night and slept yesterday most of the day. Today he seems to be completely OK. Do you think it may be a flu or what?
>>
>>It might be the flu, as the common cold does not cause a high fever.
>>But you should ask a doctor to be sure.
>>
>>Flu symptoms can be mild or severe — and if they’re mild can become severe without much notice. Be aware of your body and monitor your body temperature. Flu symptoms can come on suddenly — be sure you know your treatment and prevention options so you can be prepared.
>>
>>The common symptoms of the flu include:
>>
>>Fever (usually high)
>>Headache
>>Muscle aches
>>Chills
>>Extreme tiredness
>>Dry cough
>>Runny nose may also occur but is more common in children than adults. Stomach symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, may also occur but are more common in children than adults
>>You don’t need to have all of these symptoms to have the flu. If you have one or two, it's recommended that you see your doctor.
I ain't skeert of nuttin eh?
