>When installing SQL Server 2005 I have options to install Notification Services and Integration Service. From reading a little online I conclude that I (being a newbie in MS SQL) do not need Notification Services. But I am not sure about Integrations Services. Do I really need it? Is it essential to running SQL Server 2005?

It is not essential, but if you need to get data from other formats (say, Excel, CSV, etc.), then SSIS may help. So, it may be better to install it now but don't run the service until you need it.
BTW, Express Edition of SQL Server doesn't have it and I really miss it :(
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
