What is Linux for?

First and for most the LInux allows virtualbox to run. I also do a lot of linux development (mostly in python) on the linux side (I use Wing IDE, Dabo, and many small lib's). The linux side is always running postgres, handles all web browsing, openoffice, and my email. I have not had a virus, malware, spybot or any other similar issue since moving to linux. I don't put any type of virus checkers or any internet security products on any of the windows platforms. Guess what - they run as expected and all of them run very fast. I believe the reason to be is the windows platforms never seen the internet. This not to say the windows platforms can't browse, retrieve email. I just don't.

I have been making a major effort to make sure all my python stuff is cross platform. So I start all my projects on linux. I have gone though a little pain and effort to insure that my apps are cross platform. For example interfacing to quickbooks is a snap on windows but a lot harder from linux.
