Interesting. I got the idea from a prof a Istanbul University back in the 60s (and remember it more as an aside than anything else so wouldn't even swear I'm remembering it right except I remember being struck by the oddity of Finnish, Turkish and Hungarian being in the same group.) Perhaps this

I remember somebody once saying something about Basque being derived from Phoenician and that there were similarities with Japanese.
