Or an economic crisis this huge, not in our lifetimes anyway. Most economists agree that the actions of the government (under both Bush and Obama) averted a much larger crisis. If anything they think more money should have been poured in as fuel. IMO historians will be much kinder than the hysterical ranters of the moment.

What do you think of Obama's Afghanistan strategy announced this week? I think it was making the best of a bad situation. The part I especially liked was letting Afghanistan / Karzai, and Pakistan as well, know we will not go on like this endlessly. If they continue to harbor terrorists, all bets are off. Take terrorists out surgically without worrying about any bruised feelings of sovereignty. Isn't that what Bush said in the first place? He was right. Now it's time to show it's action and not just words.

>We've also never had a debt this huge.

>>In this case my memory is not faulty. The numbers the Bush administration tossed out there about the costs in Iraq were completely bogus, as was the pretext for invading in the first place. There was none of the hoo-ha we are getting now about we aren't even going to approve it unless you can show it's completely funded.

>>>Your memory is faulty again. Different president, different administration, same old same old:

I don't remember the Republicans saying anything about how they were going to pay for tax cuts (which did indeed mostly benefit the rich). Or this misbegotten adventure in Iraq.

>>>>>>>>>>>This whole thing with the swine flu is a bunch of crap. It is false. If you follow the money, billions of dollars are being made on this supposed "epidemic". I do not believe that there is an epidemic of swine flu. But, there is an epidemic of lying politicians and greedy people making lots of money off of this supposed "epidemic". If people trust the federal government, they are in for a rude awakening.
