>IIRC, OS/2 started off as a joint IBM/MS operation but IBM were regretting letting 'the genie out of the box' with the PC and really wanted OS/2 to be tied to IBM hardware. Microsoft, OTOH, were just getting into their brash, all-powerfull mode and decided to go their own way.......Yep, your memory is correct (this time <g>). And because it started out as a joint venture, Windows running on OS/2 worked really, really well. Much better than Windows by itself on its own PC. Here's where my memory gets foggy (although I could probably find an answer by Googling): I don't remember if the Windows that ran on OS/2 was IBM's version of Windows or was Microsoft's actual version, just running on top of OS/2.
Anyone else care to contribute to this history lesson? <g>
