I read about this in the paper this morning. It said if the Eddie competition was going to happen, today would be the day. Given the time difference it could be going on right now.
There was a great quote in the NY Times article from some official of beach safety in Hawaii. He said anyone who gets in the water at the moment, even non-surfers by the shore, better know what they are doing.
