I would attempt to migrate it to VFP9 - there should not be that much problems - you should be able to fix them all in a few hours at most.

As a quick first measure you can also SET ENGINEBEHAVIOR 70 and test it, then remove this setting and re-test. Set REPORTBEHAVIOR 80.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
