I think this is what I need. For example, my Word document I put in the general field is 20KB. When I use the COPY FIELD ("Notes") TO Temp NEXT 1 approach so I can gain access to the General Field, the size of the newly created Temp file becomes 457KB. Once I find the marker of the beginning of the signature of that Word file in the Temp file and take everything from there, I end up with a 452KB file. So, there is a difference of about 430KB, which is why Word cannot open that file as too much information was extracted from the General Field. So, I would need to end of marker of a Word 2007 document. Is such a marker exists?

What I don't understand is that if I do the same with a PDF of an XLS file, I can grab everything from the beginning of the marker until the end and that would make a file ok to be read in Excel and Acrobat Reader.
