I've got VS2005 & 2008, .NET 2.0/3.5 and Expression Blend on this machine so I'm guessing most of yours are third party (i.e non-MS) assemblies?

Looking closer at my list I see that roughly 1/3rd are in fact ZAP files - so that would bring the true number of assemblies down to below 500. And given that only 1/3rd are ZAP files I think that implies that half of the remainder have never been used. Which in turn means the number of assemblies I'm actually using (or have used) is about 250......
