>>>Every country has their citizens who embarrass the rest of the country:

>>>
>>>That's just creepy and disgusting and not funny at all.
>>>
>>>I would certainly hope that Paul de Leeuw does represent the majority in Netherlands...
>>
>>That very old video (he's bold these days) shows a man who's got only limited control over his own behavior. That in part explains what made him so successful, and so controversial (in the Netherlands). In this video you see him act into several directions. He's playing with several character types, the warm type, the little child, the creep, the rapist, the father figure, the uncle, et cetera. He hardlly had an idea of what he'd gonna do in those minutes. He improvised. He's an exhibitionist, not afraid to move down his pants and show his ass to the (tv) public. Most controversial has always been his tendency to make fun of his guests.
>>
>>Over the years he has been criticized in many ways on many occasions. He has agreed that he has gone over the top on many occasions and is less controversial in the current years, although he can still be a pain in the ass.
>>
>>I liked him, but I do no longer like him that much, although I also do no longer dislike him (there were years I really disliked him). His type of humor is not my type, I discovered. But his audience is font of him and he's particularly popular amongst mentally handicapped people because he lets them come on stage. Some see that as abuse, but others say that it is the type of entertainment that esp. those handicapped prefer and understand.
>>
>>As I said, he's controversial. He does not represent the majority here. And I think you wanted to make clear to Walter that something that he pointed to as representative of the USA isn't representative at all. I understand your message. :-)

>That was exactly my point and somehow he missed it entirely. I'm glad someone did :o)

In case you wonder why I suddenly dropped in, I'm still alive and kicking, but I'm mainly blogging on a Dutch (non-vfp) forum. I was here for some answer to a tech question and my eyes saw the words 'Paul de Leeuw' . :-)

Groet,

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
"There are three types of people: Alphas and Betas", said the beta decisively.
