Killing Foxpro app running as service
We have an application that we have written that we use to synchronise local Foxpro tables to remote SQL tables. This application sits on a timer, and every twenty minutes or so starts synchronising. When the synchronising runs it loops through the list of local tables, getting and sending updates as required.
Our concern is that we wish to run this application as a Windows Service, and specifically handling Windows shutdowns gracefully. My problem is that I cannot get the application to recognise a shutdown command whilst it is in its main synchronising loop. I have looked at the ON SHUTDOWN command, but cannot get that to do anything.
At present I am testing this by starting a synchronisation loop, and then using task manager to close the application. At present all that happens is that the loop is completed, and only then will the application shut down.
Does anyone have any pointers as to how I can make a Foxpro app more responsive to a Windows close command?
Regards,
Dominic
