Title:
Windows 7 User Account control
Hello all,
I have an old VFP application that uses a 'stub' program to copy an updated executable to a user's workstation if a new compiled exe is available. Essentially, the program compares the date time stamp of the current executable on the local drive (in 'Program Files' folder) against a known location on the server where the latest compiled executable exists. If the version on the server is newer, the stub program copies the file to the local drive and then executes this new version to run the VFP application. Of course, if there is not a newer file, then the program on the local drive is executed.
Now, in Win XP, there was never a problem with this. In Win Vista, there was a problem as the OS did not allow the copying of the file to the Program Files folder. To remedy this, I turned off User Account Control (UAC) and it solved the problem.
Now, I have just got my first PC with Win 7 and have the same problem, but the UAC has changed as it has a slider bar that allows multiple levels of security. I slid it down to the lowest level, but still cannot get the file to copy successfully.
Can someone offer some help on how I can handle this?
TIA
Bob
