Now that you are talking about it;
From what I noticed, old apps are actually running most of big banks here. You go to a teller, ask to withdraw some money, and he will be switching between ugly unix or dos screens running via telnet or such. Very few things I see runing are windows or web apps.
Now that is not to say that they do not use NET for web portals, they do (very good one at that

but core apps are still written in ancient languages. It is highly unlikely that they fat paycheck IT managers never heard of NET
boom (and precious need to rewrite or perish from the face of earth!) so it must be something else that is still keeping them
in stone ages.
