John,
I assume the fields with the degree symbol is a number/tempeture/angle, like 87° F or 5° C or an angle of 45°, etc.

Try using the Symbol Font, CHR(248). I use the Symbol Font for these kinds of things all the time...even in reports. the only time it may not work for you is if the information is alphabetic...I think Symbol font uses the Greek alphbet for some of it's stuff.
